The Dramatist Presents: TALKBACK

In early 2109, BOOM Integrated was engaged to co-concept, develop, and professionally produce a podcast for The Dramatists’ Guild of America—the membership association of playwrights, librettists, composers, and lyricists writing for the stage in the United States. The first episode is set to premiere on Monday, October 21, and new material will drop weekly through November 25th.

A co-production with the Guild’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, The Dramatist Presents: TALKBACK is a six-part mini-series featuring experts from across the theater landscape. It aims to shed light on complex and sometimes contentious issues within the professional theater world, such as the tension between appropriation and appreciation, who gets to write which stories, the effect of casting bias on the industry, and the impact of theater criticism on making art/doing business. 

TALKBACK is hosted by Christine Toy Johnson, a member of the elected leaderships of both the Dramatists Guild of America and Actors Equity Association. She serves as the National Chair of both organizations’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committees. She hosted and co-produced this podcast while performing in the First National Tour of Come From Away.
